Help on a 15W Laser on Laseraxe Mini control board

Hello. I have just assembled a cnc laser machine, this has a 15 W laser with a electronic box, I wired as by istructions the laser and fan to control box, TTL to laser box and Laseraxe control board and finally power to control box by coaxial jack and to the 7W plug on the Laseraxe board (not the one normally used for lower power laser).

Laser did not light up! I make some tests and it only lights up if directly wired to the 7W plug on Laseraxe control board, maybe the electronic box which control laser? I have misured no voltage on the laser plug on this box.

Any idea?

Could you provide images of your board and laser (close up detailed) including connectors to help us better understand what's going on?

Red/Black pair above the fan in this picture should be connected to the TTL plug on the laser.

DCOUT- with the black|grey/Black set to it should be connected to the PWM plug on the laser.

Okay, what about the laser module? What you show is the power and stepper motor control lines. Where is the TTL or PWM? Something is missing.

What are the center and right plugs listed as? Easy to read TTL, but the other two?

 

What you say is to power the laser is the PWM pin set. Connect that where you have the power cable to the laser attached and plug the power adapter directly into a power supply, not the board. Turn off TTL in the software and see if it powers on then.

Problem was the TTL cable I installed!!! Without cable the Laser lights on

New problem is light on and off the laser without taking away the power jack!!!

What is the right procedur to get optimal focus? I have a screw on laser support and the lens can be rotated to focus.

The set up you show has a carrier that can be manually moved up and down along the z-axis. Lower it to the lowest point and then power the laser on in low power mode. Test it with a piece of paper before you reach down there (don't want to burn yourself). Once power is on and not dangerous rotate the focusing barrel until you get as close to a round point (will look to be near 1mm or less). After that, all you have to do is adjust the carry until the beam comes into focus on your work item. Note: shim the carrier with a thin bit of card stock (business card) to keep it steady and prevent unwanted movement of the laser.

@Evanescent BodyArt First I had to modify the carrier which takes the lens not lower then 130 mm from standing surface second how can I put on low power mode the laser? there is no hardware for nor I found any command on CNCC...

 

@robonav WS button is low power mode. Just make sure the TTL box off to the left is unchecked. Not the box right next to the WS. That turns the laser on and off full power. It also auto checks when you click the WS button. You will have to do something to bring the laser lower down on the adjustable rig. Might have to drill a couple of holes in it? If you do, put tape over where you will drill first.

The lens focuses at the stated distance. Once it is focused, you should put a touch of glue (a kind that can be easily removed!) to lock it in place. Do not use Loctite, Superglue, etc.

It cannot be made to focus 180mm (18cm). The focal length is going to be between 8 and 20mm. Nothing you do will make it focus at 180mm.

@Evanescent BodyArt You mean I must focus with external carrier without turning the lens focus? The lens focus has some function so?

  • Hello! I have one of the LaserAxe systems (40"x40") and love it, however I recently started having issues with my system. It used to run smoothly but has begun to stutter when operating. It will do about 10 dots of etching then pause for several seconds before continuing. It only just started doing this and is SIGNIFICATLY increasing the time it takes to complete my etchings. I am usually etching leather and need a 51ms burn time at 60-70% power to get the desired result. I disconnected/reconnected every connection, uninstalled/re-installed the drivers, have it running on a dedicated machine with almost no other software programs besides the CNCC V2.53C Laseraxe software. Any ideas how to help? Is my laser just getting old/overused and needs to be replaced? Is there an updated software I should use that would help? Any advice is greatly appreciated
